The course is divided into the following two units:
a) Translation from French into Slovene 1
b) French Language and Text formation

Translation from French into Slovene:
The course focuses on developing reading skills, and translating of different types of source texts.
Written and oral analysis, summary and paraphrase of short French and Slovene texts of a general nature. Comparison of the original and the translated text, and the differences between translations by various authors. Writing summaries in Slovene on the basis of French texts.

French Language and Text formation:
Student will look closely at a range of text types. In addition to examining the general features of texts, there will be a clear focus on the production of both spoken and written discourse. Students will be expected to have an understanding of key concepts such as form/function, author/target audience, levels of formality, but will also be required to produce the discussed genres.
Learning about the techniques of “penetrating” texts, analyzing, and summarizing. Writing short compositions in Slovene and French on the basis of a model, and summary and analysis with an emphasis on the proper use of Slovene and French. Free composition. Learning about the specifics of French syntax in comparison with Slovene.
