Special Topics in Late Medieval and Early Modern Art in Western Europe II: Humanistic Themes, Symbolism and Emblematics focuses on selected iconographic contents– humanistic themes in the visual arts, symbolism and early modern emblematics. The exact content with themes and works of art changes yearly because the main point of the seminar is on methodology, analysis of art works and their interpretation in the context of Western European Art in the Late Middle Ages and Early Modern era. The topics are chosen to address in detail specific subjects or fields in order to enable students to broaden their knowledge, follow the proposed objectives and develop specific case-related competences. Students take part in scholarly research under the guidance of their mentor.
